Title: Managing Director 

Reports to: NYNME board and artists

Status: Part time position, approximately 25 hours/month, paying a monthly stipend (no benefits).

Available: September 1, 2019

NYNME (New York New Music Ensemble) is seeking a managing director to work with our board and artists to oversee all administrative aspects of the group, focusing on development, marketing and concert production. NYNME presents 3 concerts annually at the Resnick/Pasloff Foundation in New York City.  Additional performances and residencies vary from season to season.  Responsibilities include:



  • Management of ongoing and recurrent grant applications

  • Research, identify, and execute applications for new sources of funding

  • Management of current donors and cultivation of potential donors

  • Annual appeal letter and follow up



  • Design and execute physical mailings and e-blasts for NYC concerts

  • Manage Facebook and Twitter accounts and social media presence

  • Draft and deliver press releases

  • Represent the group if needed with any presenting organizations, press, or public



  • Manage music rental/purchase as necessary

  • Gather, compile, and print program notes

  • Hire recording engineer/videographer, box office/front of house help as necessary



  • Maintain records, balance books, data entry into quickbooks etc

  • Maintain licensing agreements with ASCAP and BMI and CMA membership

  • Update and maintain databases for email, print mailings, mailchimp, foundations, etc.

  • Provide musicians and board members quarterly financial information and annual budget to review for annual board meeting 


Qualifications include:

  • Understanding of and active interest in the contemporary music field

  • Writes vivid, engaged prose about contemporary music

  • Lives and works in NYC metro area

  • Reads, understands, and can aid in preparation of Annual Financial Statements, and multi-year budgets

  • Some fundraising/grant writing experience preferred

  • Open-minded, flexible, and willing to work with our board and artists to grow the organization and foster the development of new works
